    Most of the parish women are very good plain cooks and grand housekeepers.
    It's a marvel where they learn to cook knit and sew and are always ready to entertain a visitor and seldom without a sweet cake.
    In the cleaning trussing and cooking of fowl they [?]xcel. Pigs are killed by farmers themselves or men who make a trade of that job. The women fill the puddings and sausages and beautiful they are. At such a time it is customary to give away a piece of pork steak and pudding to the near neighbours Generally the household get only "one good feed" when the neighbours are shared with.
    Work is not too hard except in the harvest and then hay
