  1. The last landlord of Charlesfield was Wm. Murphy of Stephen's Green Dublin. He held a title in the English army and was preceded by his father John Murphy; who also resided in Dublin. The landlords were supposed to be good enough, but there agents were cruel and inflicted great hardships on the tenants. The tenants of Charlesfield were evicted in the year 1882, and after nine years of quarreling with the landlord's caretakers (who were called emergency men) they were re-instated.
    There were no plantings carried out in the townland.
