    council of Munster. Carew told Sir Walter Raleigh to sell his land to Richard for a thousand crowns. He married afterwards, and had a large family. One of his sons, called Lord Broghill founded Charleville, and another called Lord Bandon founded Bandon and made it a walled town, planted with English Protestants, he also planted five miles around the town with Protestants. Boyle and his sons always fought on behalf of the English Government. He also took possession of the monasteries and the surrounding lands.
