  1. The fairs are held in the towns in this locality. Some of them are held in Abbeyfeale, and in Newmarket, and in Dromcollogher, and in Kanturk, and in Newcastle-West, and in Brosna, and others in Castle Island, and in Knocknagree.
    When the people of the locality are selling a horse, they go to Castleisland, and when they are selling calves, they take the calves to Abbeyfeale to sell them. They take pigs to Kanturk to sell them. Long ago during the war time, when cattle were very scarce, and dear the buyers used come to the farmers' houses, or to the cross roads, and the farmers would take their cattle there, and the buyers would buy them there from the farmers.
    There were fairs held where there are not any fairs now. Long ago there used to be a fair held in Rockchapel. They do not hold any fairs
