  1. Patrick Cotter was born in Kinsale in 1760. At the age of 17 years he was struck by a fever and during his illness he grew so much that the foot board of his bed had to be cut of. After he recovered he continued to grow and at the age of 19 years his height was 8 feet 3 inches. Up to about 25 years ago there stood opposite the courthouse a small house which he built and slated while standing on the ground. He then joined a travelling show in England. At the age of 46 years he lost his health and died. He was buried in Bristol and he left all his money in charity. His armchair his
