At that time nick-names were very common and he was not long in Kinsale when he got the leas ainm of "Fear na Gruaige" Sometimes when people joked him about his hair he used to say "Má bhfuil ceann mná agam tá croidhe fir agam". The first time he came to this district Father Begley of Belgooly had a lot of trouble with the supers.
    The ring leaders of the supers was a woman by the name of Mrs, Harris Hayes. She had a boiler of soup always ready in the field where the Catholic Church of Belgooly now stands. Fear na Gruaige helped the Priest
