- (continued from previous page)When the churning is finished the lid is removed. It takes about half an hour to churn. When the lid is taken off it is washed down with clean water. Then the butter is taken out on a clean, wooden dish, and it is washed and salted. Then it is made into prints.
The buttermilk is used for making bread, and it is also given to pigs and calves to fatten them.
