  1. This is how the robin got it's red breast. When Our Lord was dying on the cross the robin is supposed to have come and plucked one of the thorns out of the crown on Our Lord's head. While he was doing this a drop of blood fell in his breast, and that is why the robin's breast is red.
    There is also the story about the cross on the ass's back. It is supposed to be on it because Our Lord and the Blessed Virgin and St. Joseph rode on an ass at the flight into Egypt, and then Our Lord put the cross on the ass's back.
