  1. This was formerly called Kildaton and was a chapel of ease to Fiddown. The church stood about 100 yds east of Bessborough house. In 1830 the churchyard was destroyed to make room for Lord Bessborough's stables. In the glen under Bessborough house there is a holy well called St. John's well. There is a Rath here also called Rathmore, it is 100 yds in diameter. The glen river which flows through the Demesne and thence through Piltown is called in Irish Sruth na Searrach that is the foals stream.
