mother and father were very poor and had no money. On Saint Brigids night the other girls of the Parish dressed her up in old clothes and put a staff in her hand. They then went around from house to house, and everybody gave them some little offering in honour of Saint Brigid. Eventually she took home the money to her parents who were always delighted to receive it.
