    Old Castles (Continued).
If the prophecy comes true, it has to be burned once more. The grass did grow up through the floors.
There is another old Castle near Ballintober. It was built by the O'Connors of Connaught. It is now in ruins but there are some walls and part of a tower still standing. It is a noted castle, because the first Irish Examination was held there by Red Hugh O'Neill.
Red Hugh on his march through Connaught attacked the O'Conors, who were fighting on the side of the English, in the castle and took it. Then an Irish Examination was held. Everyone was examined and those who could speak Irish were let go; and those who could not were slain. Passages lead underground from Ballintober castle to the one in the Desemne. Both are in the Barony of Ballintober.
