  1. Close to Ballyragget National School is a large rock on the side of the road leading into the village. There is a tradition attached to it. A battle was fought at a place called Aharney in the neighbouring parish and a prince who was defeated there was fleeing from the battle field towards Kilkenny when he was overtaken close to the present Bridge and at the rock his head was cut off. Many people believe that a ghost was seen at the spot for many years afterwards.
