    Sty: Get some thorns off a Gooseberry bush. tick three into the sty one day and three the next day until the nine thorns are used. Use the name of the Trinity each time you stick a thorn. Then throw the thorn away.
    Cure for a festering or bealing ear. Old people used to blow the smoke from a clay pip into the ear. Others used to and still roast a piece of onion and put it in the ear.
    Cure for a cold; Boil buttermilk and put a pinch of sugar and salt into it and take it going to bed.
