    He cares not for to meet me now on a Sunday after Mass,
    He cares not for to watch my steps as homeward I do pass.
    But returning from his night's rambles I can here his merry tune.
    Going whistling by the happy home of the Maid of Magheracloone.

    But I blame him not the fault is mine I really must confess
    For I heeded not his merry jokes his smiles or fond caress.
    To others boys I gave my love both morning night and noon
    While banished him far far away from the hills of Magheracloone

    The winter is nigh past and gone and Spring is drawing near,
    And with them both fervent and sincere,
    Where is the hand that used to pull the flowers in full bloom.
    And weave them in the silken curls of the Maid of Magheracloone
