    As in olden dys its stood
    Like a giant of the fabled days
    Reclining oer the flood
    And the little Church that stands above
    Is mirrored far blon
    In the Blue And placid waters
    of the lake of Ballyhoe.

    The islets fair that stud its breast
    With natures f(l)oliage crowned
    The sloping hills and white-washed homes
    Stand sentinel around
    O 'tis a scene that not on earth
    Would tempt me to far go
    'Tis love itself to look upon
    The Lake of Ballyhoe

    Its gladsome when God's glory
    Beams down upon the earth
    And gives the lovely flowers of Spring
    Their budding and their birth
    O loveliest flower on mead or mound
