  1. (continued from previous page)
One night a man was coming from Tralee, and as he reached a fort near Ardfert he heard great noises, like horses walking and chains rattling. A few days after he got very sick, and the priest and doctor were sent for. When the priest came, he asked him did he pass a fort or graveyard about twelve o'clock at night. The priest said, "Did you hear any noises?" and the man said he did. The priest told him to pass the fort at the same time as he did that night. The man did so and he heard nothing. From that time he got better.
