  1. There were not many hedge schools in this district long ago. There was one in Sallowglen about two miles from the village of Ballylongford.
    They had a school in an old house which belonged to a man named Mr. Wallace. The teacher who taught in this school was Mr. Stack. Every day before daybreak forty or fifty pupils from around the district came to this school and if they thought the soldiers would not find them out, they would stay at the school for five or six
