    bake, and under the griddle was a brand. The brand was a round piece of iron with three legs on it.
    The people had to get up early every morning, and grind the grain, and it was then the bread was made for their breakfast.
    In farmers' houses there was stampy made. Raw potatoes were grated, flour and new-milk were added to them, and then it was put to bake on a griddle. Stampy is now no longer made, as people nowadays would not like to eat it, even though it was regarded long ago as a very healthy food.
