    The smith makes pikes, axes, shovels, gates, tongs, and he mends ploughs, harrows, mowing-machines and other farm implements.
    Near the river the smith makes a big fire on a stone flag. When the fire is red, he puts the iron bands into it. When the bands are glowing red, he takes them out with a tongs and hammers them on the wheels to make them firm. He then puts the wheels into the river to cool, and when they are cold he takes them out, then they are fit for use.
