  1. There is only one forge in this district and it is situated near a crossroads, about half a mile from it on the other side is a second crossroads where the main road passes. Running in front of the forge and about fifty yards from it is a river which flows into the Shannon.
    The name of the Smith is McTiernan, but the man who owned the forge formerly was named Flynn, he was father-in-law of the present blacksmith.
