  1. There was very severe wind in this locality in or about the year 1646 and it caused wonderful damage. The principal building that were damaged were the Catholic churches in Manorhamilton and in this village. There was also very bad thunder and lightning and rain storm on the 24th July 1898. The storm lasted for six hours and caused serious damage to life and property. At St. Mary's Catholic Church a man was ringing the Angelus bell and was killed instantly by the lightning.
