  1. In olden times the people of this district ate only one meal a day and that was at noon.
This meal consisted of potatoes and sour milk and it produced very strong healthy men so strong that they were called "savages". The people never sat at the table but consumed their food as they sat around the fire in Winter and all corners of the kitchen in Summer. This custom is well preserved in the district at the present time.
The bread was made from oat-meal which was produced on a large scale in farms.
