In the village of Moate there stands the ruins of what was once a snug little dwelling-house.

    (continued from previous page)
twelve o'clock one dark winter's night there was a man returning from work. As he was passing by this place he heard the sound of laughter. He stood for a moment as he thought that it was some boys who were making fun, but as he stood he heard the sound again but there was nobody to be seen. He then continued on his way home. Since then people say the place is haunted.
