    Calla school opened for the first time in 1881.

    Calla School opened for the first time in 1881.
    First Principal teacher was Daniel Doherty a native of Clifden Co. Galway.
    Assistant was Mrs Mary Faherty (nee Walsh) a native of Moycullen Co. Galway.
    Mr Faherty retired at 65 in April 1902 and was succeeded by the present Prin. teacher Jud O'Donnell.
    Mrs Faherty retired in 1920 and was succeeded by the present assistant teacher Mrs Sabira O Donnell.
    Mrs ODonnell retired on full pension on 1st October 1937 having reached the age of 65. She was succeeded by Miss Margaret Heneghan, a fully qualified teacher who took up duty on January 11th 1938.
