- The district in which I live is the parish of Killyan. I was born in the adjoining parish to the East called Killeroran. The district I am about to explain is commonly called Crufionn, pronounced (Cruffin). This is a district whose boundary is not well defined in some directions but it is a vast territory I believe.
At the present time the definition of Cruffin is confined to the parish or less than the parish of Killyan, mostly to the townlands of Lisavruggy, Ballinacor, Creeveroe, Cappagh, Boggauns, Cloonkeen, Newgrove and a few more minor townlands. The outsiders, as they call themselves, always refer to this part of Killyan parish as "Cruffonians" with a certain amount of disgust and belittling.
