  1. A Local Fairy Tale.
When I was sitting at the fire side last night my father told me a story about the fairies.
One time there grew in a neighbours garden a fairy tree.
One day when this man was going to plough the garden he cut a branch off this fairy tree.
That night when this man was going on his ceilide he saw fairies scoffing and laughing at him.
When he was returning home he was surprised to see his cow lying in a field with her horns stuck in the ground for the fairies had taken her out of his byre.
Another neighbour had cut a branch to make a foot tree for the plough.
When this man had yoked the horse in the plough the horse kicked the man and broke his leg.
Afterwards this fairy tree was never touched.
