- In Lifford parish Church, in the parish of Clonleigt South, there is a wooden tablet erected to the memory of Sir Richard and Dame Hansard. It is reported that while the army of James II was marching on to attack Derry that they camped at Caranacor,a few miles outside Lifford. They were refused shelter in Lifford Church and in their anger they cut the hands of Sir Richard and his wife leaving only the bare stumps. Everything else remained intact.
