  1. The following industries were carried on in this district long ago; Basket-making, candle-making, churn-making, spinning, weaving, shoe-making, lime-burning, tub-making, delf-making, soap-making.
    Candle-making
    In olden times candle-making was carried on in this district and it is not carried on now. The way old people made these candles was: First they took the inside of rushes. Then they got the fat of cattle and dipped the rushed in it; then they left it until it dried, and after that they burned it for candles.

    Some people used to make candles out of roses.
