  1. About Christmas time people come round the houses dressed up and they sing songs and each one has a rhyme to say.
There are about nine or ten of them.
They have all false faces and are dressed up in different clothes. They have all different names. Some of them are:- Dr. Brown, Gillespie, Johnny Funny, Jack Straw, and the Wren. These are some of the names of them. They all say different rhymes too.
The people of the houses always give them money and they have a small box to put it in. It is always the smallest boy who carries the money box and the money.
He is generally called wee Jonny Funny.
