- (continued from previous page)Markets:- In the older times markets were usually held in villages or little towns, such as- Rathmell Kerrykeel and Rosnakill. The markets are held in some of these yet. The women had to go to the nearest town to purchase their goods. Many of the women exchange butter and eggs in my district for some household things such as pandys and saucepans. Barter was a common thing in my district at markets.
Coins:- Many of the coins which were in great use long ago have died out such so that four-penny piece; the tenpenny piece; the fourshilling piece; and the sovereign. The crown is also going out of use now.
Hucksters and Peddlers:- Hucksters and peddlers were very common in the older times. They came around looking for feather and rags. They They usually gave the women delph needles and safety pins in exchange(continues on next page)- Collector
