    If a girl comes on a visit to a house she is termed "the strange girl".

    If a girl comes on a first visit to a house she is termed “the strange girl”. The owner of the house gives a party for her. The girls are invited to this party or “Big night” and they get some refreshments usually tea. The boys come without any invitation but they get no food. Dancing and games are indulged in until next morning.
