    of Trinity College. The Barnewells, or Lords of Trimlestown, had several holdings near Dublin, but their principal seat was at Turvey Donabate. We are told that a certain Sieur de Barneville came with William the Conqueror to England in 1066. Later, in the twelfth century, some members of the family established themselves at Berehaven, but were eventually exterminated in battle by O'Sullivans, with the solitary exception of Sir Hugh de Barnewell who built Drimnagh Castle.
