   My Granny told me that her Granny fed the poor people every night with stirrabout and sour milk and oat meal bread and sheep from the mountain were killed for them too. She used to have four big tubs of stirrabout with spoons all round the tubs and milk in the middle and a special tub for the little ones who were crying wild with the hunger. But if they were not protected by her Granny their parents would eat it all and leave them nothing. Such was the starvation of those days.
