    people walked across them. There are no traditions or stories told about them.
    There are many customs connected with cross-roads. In olden times the people gathered there to hear stories and singing and to dance.
    There is a monument to the dead in our district. It is built in memory of a man killed off a horse there.
    There is a lot of mass paths, one to Claremorris, one to Mayo, on to Balla, and one to Kiltimagh. These were used by the people as short cuts going to mass.
