   In the townland of Kilkenny there remains the ruins of an old school built in the year of 1803. There were different teachers teaching in it, one which name was Martin. He was the last teacher in it. A new school was built in 1888 in the same locality but it is a modern one. The teachers before Martin were only teachers who came to the school three times a week. The other days they went round from farmhouse to farmhouse teaching lessons and teaching the children how to write on slates as there were no writing on paper at that time. Sometimes the teachers would get an old
