- In the year of the big wind 1839 left a lot of families homeless. The storm arose by night. People slept out under walls and hedges the thatch was blown off their houses and the walls down. There used to be severe frosts that lasted for seven weeks. People walked across the River Suck to a funeral the ice was ten inches in height that would be 50 years ago. The potatoes got frozen on the lofts. (people used to improve them they were so wet)
