  1. Daniel Carmody, John Carmody, and James Carmody were local poets. Daniel Carmody and John Carmody died in America but James lived in Ireland all his lifetime. He died in the year 1936, aged 98 years, he was born in 1838 and was a poet and singer from childhood. He never wrote any of his poems or songs but always composed them at leasure. There is no record kept of any of his songs or poems. He was a farmer and has sons and daughters living yet. He composed the "Praises of Ennismore" and many other local songs. He is said to be the oldest man that ever lived in Ennismore, he is buried in Listowel although their burial place in Dysert. The people treated him very kindly and he was welcomed everythere.
