  1. There are several kinds of travellers going around namely Charles O Brien, Patrick Doherty, Michael Coffy, James Mac Carthy. Generally before a big horse fair they all gather near the town. Some of them put up at Coolnal Crossand at Listowel bridge. Some of them are very poor. They go around to the houses begging and gathering food. They get meal, bread milk. They make small articles such as tables and they buy the tin and make saucepans, gallons, quarts and go around from house to house selling them. In the winter they travel in wagons but in the summer they take the covering off the wagons and travel in open cars.
