  1. On Christmas eve all the people go to Listowel for candles and red paper and other things to decorate the crocks. On Christmas day a crowd of men go round in the wren gathering money. They dress up also they play music and they have tamrines and they ding them. All the people decorate their houses with holly and laurel. The houses look very beautiful that night. The following morning will be St Stephen's day and myself and my brother and John Michael Murphy and the two Greaneys will go round in the wren with us gathering money and we will be delighted with ourselves. We will dress up ourselves as nice as we can and that monday night
