  1. Long ago when people were baking they used make enough that would do them for a week. The bread was made from wheat rye and sometimes from oatenmeal. The vessel they baked the bread in was called a bastable.
    They used usually put cuts on the top of the cake to make it rise. They used also make griddle bread. In olden times they used make flour locally. The bread they made was stampy and griddle bread.
