Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)a plait of rushes & the same in the other pair of holes. By means of these plaits of rushes the spindle was attached to the standard. The part of spindle between the two plaits was much thicker than the two ends & had 3 grooves. One end of spindle was only about 2 ins & was simply needed to pass thro' rush loop. The other end was 8 ins. long, passed thro' other rush loop & on it the thread was wound.
The spindle was worked by a cotton lace running round band of wheel & groove in spindle
Before the thread was spun the wool had to be carded & made into rolls.
The carder used 2 cards, which might be described as hair-brushes with iron-wire(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
