  1. Gallows Hill in Co. Clare was a place for executing Christians during the time of Cromwell. It is said that a native of this place was hanged there because he was caught having a priest staying in the house for shelter. The priest's and the man's name are unknown. John Hynes and several others were hanged here. There is a little cell on the hill.
    * Glenagross. King Crimthan lies buried in one of Mrs. Patrick Crowe's fields. There is an old ruin and at night a light shines there ever since the time of the warning light from Clare when Cromwell was besieging Limerick. It was down that way the Clare men travelled.
Caherdavin. The camp field, where Sarsfield camped before his Famous Ride to Ballyneety, is in Caherdavin.
Pass. A woman was cut up in pieces by Cromwell because she had a letter for the Bishop of Limerick and she would not tell who gave it to her.
Parteen. The O'Briens of Thomond and the Cahel people fought at the Bridge.
