1. Butter-Making

   We have a big churn at home. The things that are inside in it are called beaters. It is about two feet in height and thirty six in width. It is about four years old. There is a mark on the bottom of it to show that it was made in Ireland. We make our butter twice a week in summer and we do not make any in Winter as the milk is scarce.
   It is my mother that makes the churn. If anyone comes in while she is making the churn they always Say "God bless the Work" and then help her to make the churn if possible. They take about three hours to make the churn.
   It is a barrel churn and the beaters work around in a circle. There is a big piece of glass on one side of the churn and when the churn is made the grains of butter can be seen inside this little glass. The butter milk is removed from the butter and kept for baking and drinking. Then water is put into the churn and it is wheeled for about ten minutes until the milk is got out of it. Then his wash milk is taken out and
