    “Banking” the potatoes.
    When the stalks are big they are sprayed with blue-stone and and washing soda.
    The reason they are sprayed is to protect them from the blight
    Some people spray their potatoes a few times to make them grow.
    If there are weeds in the potaotoes they are generally grubbed with a grabber.
    There are several varieties of potatoes sown in this locality, namely Queens,May Queens ,KerrPinks,Land leaguers,Champions, and Aran Banners etc.
