  2. The Swing plough is still in use in this district but an occasional farmer has got a wheel plough. All wooden ploughs, except the coulter and sock which were made of iron, were used. These ploughs were all painted red, and two or sometimes only one horse, were used for ploughing.

  3. A jaunting car which was so common fifty years ago, is still to be seen now and again on the roads. The folk sat back to back on each side and held on with great difficulty, when the horse was travelling at a good speed, but sometimes accidents happened especially at the hairpin bends, which are so common on these by-roads, as occasionally an occupant of the car was flung right off, unknown to the driver. If the springs commonly known as "sheekles" were loose they along with the iron tyres would make such
