  1. A Song

    Songs are sometimes composed locally.

Songs are sometimes composed locally. A man named Hugh Reilly composed a song a few years ago when an ass belonging to a poor woman died. The song is:-
    I
Ye kindly hearted people from Clare to Rassan Cross
Who always sympathise on hearing of a neighbour's loss
You have heard of many losses both by the rich and poor class
But none so sad as the one I relate of poor old Ketty's ass.
    II
For two weeks duration the animal did complain
And what made his disease more fatal he was left out in the rain
The neighbours came and treated him as best they thought was right
Unremittedly in attendance was John Muldoon and Willie White.
There being no improvement and that at times he took a fit
Another sympathetic neighbour consulted the local vet
