- Charles Mac Donnell son of Charles Armstrong Mac Donnell was landlord of Kilkee in olden times-1703.
His father's name was Armstrong and it is said that he adopted the name Mac Donnell in order to inherit the estate.
Charles Mac Donnell married Elizabeth O'Brien of Ennistymon locally known as Betty O'Brien.
Kilkee Castle was standing at this time and it is thought she got part of the castle knocked to build a house.
She used the field at the West End known as the big meadow as a "deer-park".
