- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)On a part of our farm a piece of stone lies which is a piece of this old grindstone where it was thrown. Parts of this stone was used for making spud stones for gates, by my uncle, and still other parts were used for making corner-stones for houses. This stone was half-a-ton weight and was about a yard in diameter. In Newbliss, in Reilly's and Fay's mill corn and wheat were ground and to these the people of the district still go to get their corn and wheat ground. Cranstones mill in Cornasaus and another mill below Rourkes cross were also mills in which corn and wheat were ground.
The kinds of bread used were Boxty-bread, potato-bread, barm-bread, oatmeal and wheatmeal-bread were the kinds of bread used long ago.
