- On St. Stephen's Day we put on old coats, old shoes and false faces and go from house to house collecting money with a dead wren. At every house we sing the wren song:-

St Stephen's Day she was caught in the furze
Small as the wren is, her family is great.
Rise up young lady and give us a treat.
