    Some years ago in fair Mayo when I was but a boy

    Some years ago in fair Mayo,
    when I was but a boy,
    My dreams were bright, my
    heart was light, my hopes
    were full of joy.
    I thought I did see loved
    Banba free from the
    throes of a king or queen.
    By the corribs banks in
    Ireland's ranks with my
    father's old Caubeen.
